These briefings will provide subject leaders with up-to-date information required to effectively lead their subject in school. The focus over the year will be to support and challenge different groups of pupils. There will be six sessions in total with the initial introductory session FREE to attend.
Session 1 – FREE session Thursday 15th September 2022: Review progress against recovery curriculum actions and create next steps for 2022-2023
Session 2: Support with the identification of the lowest 20% across school for both reading and writing and review the monitoring of this across school
Sessions 3, 4 & 5: Gain an understanding of how to adapt planning to suit needs: reading, writing and spelling.
We will be joined in session 4 by an experienced school adviser who has inspection experience, to explore readiness for the deep dive into early reading and how to best prepare for this.
Session 6: Explore progression in spoken language skills from EYFS – Year 6
This course will:
- Inform delegates of Literacy up-dates and recent publications
- Investigate resources to support staff with reading, writing and spelling development across school
- Provide the opportunity to network with colleagues
- Support with developing effective action plans for English and provide clear gap tasks

Introductory session, 4:00 – 4:30pm, Sessions 2 to 6, 4:00 – 5:30pm
Cost: £30+VAT per delegate per single session or £100+VAT for sessions 2-6 (session 1 free to attend)
