This course will focus on supporting leadership skills and provide teachers with ideas to develop early reading and writing through engaging texts.
This course will:
- Consider how to develop effective leadership in EYFS
- Develop a better understanding of enabling environments
- Explore how communication and language skills are developed in early years
- Develop strategies for supporting early reading and writing
- Develop assessment and moderation approaches
Session 1: Developing leadership in EYFS We will focus on leading day to day practice and being effective role models in supporting others to develop their own practice. We will explore how to develop enabling environments to further promote language skills through effective provision.
Session 2: Reading and Writing We will discuss feedback from session one activities and focus on the development of phonics and reading in the Early Years. We will focus on the importance of writing and developing writing through provision. There will be a focus on developing vocabulary and the importance of fine motor skills.
Session 3: Moderation and transition We will discuss feedback from session two and focus on developing assessment and moderation approaches. Practitioners will have the opportunity to look at some exemplar writing and moderate their own writing collaboratively. We will also focus on ensuring a smooth transition to KS1.
