Course description:
This brand new course comprises two sessions: an initial half day session followed by a twilight. The course, suggested for Year 7 teachers and KS3 English leaders, will support with transition from Year 6 into Year 7, look at curriculum expectations, develop subject knowledge and explore the mastery approach to teaching English. Delegates will take away a unit of work based on an engaging text for teaching reading and writing for Year 7 pupils and have the opportunity to discuss assessment and moderate their pupils’ work alongside colleagues.
Outcomes – Teachers will:
• Gain a clear understanding of Y6 expectations for writing and how to make a smooth transition into Y7
• Be reassured about subject knowledge and progression in the teaching of vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and spelling
• Gain a greater knowledge of quality texts that will inspire pupils’ writing skills and understand the teaching sequence using the mastery approach
• Be equipped to moderate pupils’ writing with confidence

Audience: Teachers Year 7, KS3 leaders and English subject leaders

Dates: Thursday 19th September from 1.00pm – 4.00pm
Wednesday 27th November from 2:30pm -4:30pm

Course Cost: £150 +VAT per delegate
