Pathways to Progress is a writing intervention programme to be delivered in addition to pupils’ English lessons. The year 2 programme is predominately aimed at pupils who are working just below age-related expectations and need to close gaps in their learning.

Pathways to Progress in year 2 provides clear lesson plans and consolidation of previous learning objectives. Each unit follows a simple ‘Review and Teach, Practise and Apply’ structure for three x 30-minute lessons per week linked to a text. The programme comes with subject knowledge videos to support the adults who are delivering it.

It is designed to be facilitated by a teacher, teaching assistant or tutor and provides targeted CPD each half-term for the key skills to be taught. The lessons can be delivered 1:1, with small groups of pupils or even to a whole class to address key skills.

Included in the package:

  • Programme guide to support implementation
  • Detailed lesson plans for writing intervention support
  • Fully resources sessions
  • Overview of year 2 writing skills
  • Comprehensive training videos to support CPD
  • Flexibility for pupil needs
  • Links to class-based learning
