This full set of units has been developed to support the transition in literacy from KS2 to KS3. The skills developed within the units are pitched to consolidate key elements of KS2 before progressing in the spring and summer term to focus on the KS3 curriculum.

Reading analysis skills are developed as well as both creative and transactional writing. A mastery approach is applied, with pupils practising and applying a set of key writing skills over the course of 20 sessions. The texts have been chosen to provide a foundation for literature studied in year 9, 10 and 11 such as, an introduction to Shakespeare, a classic historic narrative, persuasive speeches and arguments on graffiti and the environment crisis.
