A Stage Full of Shakespeare Stories by Angela McAllister is a collection of Shakespeare stories. This beautiful anthology of 12 stories from Shakespeare, rewritten to be accessible to children. Including favourites such as The TempestA Midsummer Night’s DreamRomeo and JulietHamlet and Othello, each story is stunningly illustrated by collage artist Alice Lindstrom.

This unit covers KS3 reading and writing skills. There are age-related skills for pupils to work on and master through a variety of activities and writing opportunities. By limiting the number of skills the units contain, pupils can really hone their writing techniques, providing excellent, focussed assessment opportunities for teachers.

At regular intervals, there are suggestions for extending more able writers within the context of the lesson. These are simple, manageable and effective with little additional planning required.

This unit is part of a set of 6 from Autumn 1 to Summer 2. If you are looking for a programme of writing support for the whole school year, please visit the Pathways to Write year 7 package which, in addition to the units of work, includes the key documents comprising the following:

  • Overview document
  • KS3 assessment document
  • Feature keys progression document
