This document has been produced in conjunction with our ‘Pathways to Write’ materials to ensure progression across school for the text types pupils may be using. It outlines the specific features of each text type and suggests how these might be developed between year groups.

There are two sections to the document, covering both non-fiction text types and story writing. Within the non-fiction section, we have suggested which text types are suitable for which year groups based on their level of complexity and skill requirements for the writer.
