The Challenge:

We chose to use The Literacy Company to support our development of English because of their model of progression. The skill of writing has always been an area of development across school, and we felt that Pathways to Write offered a comprehensive and guided programme of support.
We have worked with The Literacy Company for 3 years now and have always been extremely impressed with their professionalism, knowledge and expertise.

The Impact:

Teachers at Penns have been the biggest advocates of the programme as it clearly sets out the English curriculum and offers a mastery approach which is very in keeping with our beliefs at Penns. It is easy to navigate. The mastery keys are focused within the unit and allow pupils to deepen their knowledge. The gateway keys also ensure that pupils are able to know more and remember more. We are already noticing the impact of the writing approach since pupils are writing at length, are mindful of the skills they are incorporating and the overall quality of their writing has improved.


We would highly recommend The Literacy Company due to the support offered by our consultant, the ease by which experienced staff can implement the approach and more importantly the consistency that both the mastery approach and the support have given across the school.
