Course description: In-line with guidance from Ofsted, this new course will explore the implementation of the reading and writing curricula. Leaders will focus on ensuring well-planned, sequential teaching of reading and writing across school. The seven aspects of reading within the Ofsted handbook will be investigated.
Subject leaders will be supported to successfully evaluate phonics and reading systems across school. Structures to evaluate the implementation and impact of the writing curriculum will be explored.
Session 1 (full day): Exploration of reading and writing ‘deep dive’
Session 2 (half day): Feedback and next steps following ‘deep dive’ gap task
Outcomes: Leaders will:
• Evaluate the impact of both their reading and writing curricula
• Investigate gaps in knowledge and skills for both reading and writing in their setting
• Develop strategies to enable gaps to be closed
• Complete a deep dive of reading and writing in their school
• Share good practice with colleagues

Audience: Subject leaders and senior leaders

Session 1: Thursday 17th September 2020 – 9.15am to 3.15pm
Session 2: Thursday 12th November 2020 – 9am to 12 noon

Cost: £225+VAT per delegate for 1.5 days of training
