Course description:

This course comprises three sessions: two half day sessions and one full day session. During this course, teachers new to Year 2 will become familiar with and increase their understanding of the process of finalising KS1 teacher assessment for reading and writing. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss assessment and moderate their pupils’ work alongside Year 2 teachers. They will also take away practical ideas for use in the classroom, including an exciting unit of work based around engaging texts.

Outcomes – Teachers will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of the expectations for end of KS1 for both reading and writing
  • Be reassured about subject knowledge and progression in the teaching of Year 2 skills across the year
  • Be equipped to moderate pupils’ reading and writing with confidence
  • Gain a greater knowledge of quality texts that will inspire pupils’ writing skills and encourage effective reading development

Audience: Teachers new to Year 2, KS1 leaders and English subject leaders


Session 1: Wednesday 8th July 2020 – 1.00pm to 4.00pm
Session 2: Monday 28th September 2020 – 9.15am to 3.30pm
Session 3: Monday 8th February 2021 – 1.00pm to 4.00pm

Cost: £265.00 +vat per delegate for 3 sessions
