Join us for a short webinar to introduce our new handwriting guidance: a practical, evidence‑informed resource designed to support consistent handwriting teaching across your school.
Our new handwriting guidance is not for adding more to your workload, but to clarify expectations, strengthen progression, and support teachers with practical tools. The Writing Framework says that handwriting must be explicitly taught from reception onwards through daily practise and clear modelling. Handwriting is part of transcription and underpins fluency, confidence, and clarity in writing. This document will support teachers with simple, effective routines, progression and classroom practice.
The webinar will provide the background research into developing handwriting. It will provide tips for teaching handwriting confidently, consistently and in a way that supports pupils’ long‑term writing fluency. Clear guidance on how to use the document in the classroom will be shared.
