Course description: This course comprises two half day sessions and will provide teachers the opportunity to fully understand the writing expectations of EYFS.  Session one will introduce teachers to newly written exemplification materials and will explore different stages of writing development to ensure a clear understanding of what developing, expected and exceeding writing looks like.  Teachers will be provided with a unit of work based around an exciting text. This will encourage a community of writers in the Reception class.

The writing from the unit of work will be shared at session 2 where teachers will moderate their children’s writing against ELG10. The Literacy Company exemplification will be referred to throughout this session. Further ideas will be given to support writing transition from Reception into Year 1.

Outcomes – Teachers will:

  • Feel equipped to return to school and make accurate judgements of their own children’s writing standards.
  • Feel confident in enhancing literacy rich environments
  • Be clear with next steps for writing

Audience: EYFS teachers, Y1 teachers, Teaching Assistants, senior leaders

Dates: Wednesday 6th February 2019
