This half-day course will put more able children front and centre. Whilst exemplifying what greater depth writing looks like, we will also illustrate how to adapt planning to ensure their talents in writing are developed and their enthusiasm grows. Leave armed with strategies, ideas and resources to support this gifted group of writers and nurture their love of English.
This course will:
- Exemplify the GDS standard at KS1/KS2
- Consider how to adapt teaching to cater for more able pupils
- Focus on the role of purpose and audience in writing
- Examine the journey of a more able writer through a unit of work
- Consider best practice for evaluating, editing and improving writing
- Explore the role of reading in supporting writing, including its impact on developing vocabulary
