Course description:
This course comprises three sessions: two half day sessions and one full day session. During this course, teachers new to Year 6 will become familiar with and increase their understanding of the process of finalising KS2 teacher assessment for writing and understand the expectations of the end of key stage 2 reading test. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss assessment and moderate their pupils’ work alongside Year 6 teachers. They will also take away practical ideas for use in the classroom, including an exciting unit of work based around engaging texts.

Outcomes – Teachers will:
• Gain a clear understanding of the expectations for end of KS2 for writing and the Y6 reading test
• Be reassured about subject knowledge and progression in the teaching of Year 6 skills across the year
• Be equipped to moderate pupils’ writing with confidence
• Gain a greater knowledge of quality texts that will inspire pupils’ writing skills and encourage effective reading development

Audience: Teachers new to Year 6, KS2 leaders and English subject leaders


Wednesday 10th July from 9-12noon
Wednesday 2nd October from 9:15-3:30pm
Monday 10th February from 9-12noon
