I already have Pathways to Write and/or Read. What does this mean for my school?
Nothing needs to change. You can continue using your existing resources or upgrade to access your programme online. To explore your options, visit the membership section above or email us on online@theliteracycompany.co.uk for a reccomendation.
What package should I choose?
If you’re happy with a set selection of units, the Standard package is a great option. If you’d like access to all 90 units, plus new releases and curriculum updates as they become available, Premium or Premium+ may be the better choice.
Can I still download and store the programmes?
Yes! You can download all your units to your schools’ server or keep them on our cloud for easy access. Using your membership this way may mean you miss out on the updates and news, so we advise keeping them online to make sure you’re using the best version of the programme.
How do the logins work?
Initial package costs will be applied based on school size ensuring schools will gain either 10, 20, 30 or 30+ logins. A school super user (English subject leader) will distribute the login information to staff. If a member of staff leaves the school, their login must be given back so that it can be used by the new member of staff. At the point of purchase, the super user will sign an agreement to confirm that logins will not be shared with other schools.
Can we access mixed-age planning?
Schools will be able to access both single and mixed-age planning on the platform. This means that there is more flexibility for schools if year group structures change and pupil numbers increase or decrease.
What is the Standard package? Is it Set 1 units only?
The Standard package is a consultant-planned English curriculum that ensures a broad range of high-quality texts and outcomes. The package includes units from across both programmes and has been carefully designed so that the Pathways to Write and Pathways to Read texts complement one another through shared themes or genres. This package is ideal for schools that would like a ready-made curriculum pathway with no need to select or sequence units themselves. Is CPD an additional cost or part of the membership?
The leadership area included in Premium and Premium+ memberships includes CPD. The CPD will be short, useful, teacher-friendly videos as well as pre-prepared staff meetings for subject leaders to deliver to staff. Videos will be added regularly on the latest hot topics in English and in areas where we find Pathways schools need support. New CPD will be visible on the initial page so teachers can just click and watch.
What will we receive that is new and updated?
Pathways products have been updated several times since their initial launch in 2018. Consultants respond to developments such as The Writing Framework, the Curriculum and Assessment Review, government guidance, Ofsted frameworks and research published by the EEF, making relevant adaptations to units where appropriate. Schools will instantly access any updates once they have been made directly on the platform.
At The Literacy Company, we are passionate about children’s literature; we want to ensure that new texts are brought into the programme from time to time to allow teachers to refresh and re-energise their teaching of English.
In the Leadership area, content will be released regularly to support subject leaders and provide whole school CPD – the platform will mean we can get our latest research, information and training out directly to our Pathways schools.
