To complement the Pathways to Write programme, this set of greater depth standard exemplification materials is designed to support with the assessment of writing. Writing collections have been compiled throughout a whole year from a range of Pathways to Write schools for Y1 to Y6.

These materials show examples of writing from the series of lessons in a Pathways to Write unit of work. Each piece of writing within the exemplification has a commentary to describe how the piece of writing contributes to an overall assessment of greater depth. Purpose and audience, appropriate vocabulary and grammatical structures, cohesion and punctuation are considered in each commentary, using examples from the piece of writing to illustrate this. The whole collection demonstrates a pupil’s progress over the year and how their writing skills develop to achieve greater depth standard at the end of the year.
