This Y1 unit is based on Meet the Planets by Caryl Hart. This book takes children on an exciting space adventure to meet all the planets of the solar system.  This striking, read-aloud, story-led picture book combines STEM learning with a rhyming twist. 

These reading units comprise 6 weeks of whole class reading plans focusing on the teaching of key reading skills from the national curriculum. Each week provides an opportunity for pupils to develop reading fluency and to practise prediction, clarifying of vocabulary and retrieval skills. There is also a weekly mastery focus for explicit teaching of understanding and vocabulary.
