This Y5 unit is based on Exploring Space by The Literacy Company . This booklet explores everything you would want to know about the exciting topic of space exploration. With key curriculum information, well-chosen photographs and engaging layouts, this book will satisfy any child who is eager to learn and acquire facts about space and the people who have travelled there. 

These reading units comprise 6 weeks of whole class reading plans focusing on the teaching of key reading skills from the national curriculum. Each week provides an opportunity for pupils to develop reading fluency and to practise prediction, clarifying of vocabulary and retrieval skills. There is also a weekly mastery focus for explicit teaching of how to summarise information, distinguish between fact and opinion and investigate structure of texts.
