Faery Tales by Carol Ann Duffy will take you to faraway lands of wicked witches, evil monsters and brave heroines in former Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy’s stunning collection. In these retellings of the Grimm classics, pupils will experience tales from around the world as well as stories of her own including firm favourite Hansel and Gretel. 

These reading units comprise 6 weeks of whole class reading plans focusing on the teaching of key reading skills from the national curriculum. Each week provides an opportunity for pupils to develop reading fluency and to practise prediction, clarifying of vocabulary and retrieval skills. There is also a weekly mastery focus for explicit teaching of evaluating language choice, identifying themes and conventions, and summarising.
